Clifford Tretick has had a broad career that includes many aspects of the music business. He was a classically trained flutist who enjoyed a solo career and then became a Master Craftsman for the world renown Brannen Brothers Flute Makers. He now collaborates with the Abell Flute Company finishing new flutes as well as maintaining his own flute repair business caring for customers worldwide. Clifford regularly performs in a variety of venues that include solo recitals, touring groups and orchestral sections.
His studies in flute were at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the North Carolina School of the Arts. His principal teachers were Philip Dunigan, Albert Tipton and Robert Willoughby.
Prizes he has won are the prestigious National Flute Association Young Artist Competition and a Master Fellowship grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. As a soloist under concert management, Mr. Tretick gave recitals, appeared with numerous orchestras and was a featured Visiting Artist in Residence for the state of North Carolina.
After success as a soloist, Mr. Tretick had the extraordinary opportunity to work for the prestigious company Brannen Brothers Flute Makers. There he had the great honor to train with Master flute maker Alan Williams who is considered by many as one of the world’s finest finishers and flute technicians. His tenure with Brannen was 12 and a half years as a Master Craftsman and it was at Brannen that he finished and repaired flutes for many of the world's most noted artists.
Clifford Tretick currently makes his home in eastern Pennsylvania and when not working, Clifford can be found caring for and riding his beautiful full Arabian horse Quatro. When a change of scenery is needed, Clifford travels to Ireland to visit friends and service the many fine flutes in Europe.
